Year 8
Upcoming Events
Happy End of Term to all of our Year 8 families!
We wish you and your families a safe Easter holiday and a restful break after a big term.
Week in Review
Cross Country
On Tuesday, Year 8 students headed to Cammeray Golf Club for the annual Cross Country, running a 3km course through what turned out to be a properly challenging route. It was great to see students backing themselves and pushing through – that willingness to show up and give something difficult a real go is exactly what we hope to build in Year 8. Well done to all who ran.
Startup Studio Pitch Night
Wednesday evening saw families join us for the Startup Studio Pitch Check-In, a showcase of the passion projects students have been developing this term. The range of ideas on display was impressive: a cologne, a baking business, shark repellent technology, not-for-profit campaigns and more.
Congratulations to the Year 8 students who pitched on the night: Alex Selvi, Wilbur Price, Archer Healy-Smith, Charlie Halliday and Sachin Watters. Each of them should be proud of what they presented.
Spotlight: Year Meeting Key Messages
This week’s Year Meeting centred on three ideas we think matter a great deal: responsibility, kindness and bravery. We spoke about what it means to genuinely own your actions, not deflect, not minimise, but take accountability. We talked about kindness as an active choice rather than a default, and we spent time on the idea of being the brave person in a tricky situation.
It was a great opportunity to regroup and think about what we want to be known for as a cohort. Students brainstormed the values that reflect who we are and what we stand for, a conversation that, hopefully, stays with them well beyond the classroom.
Balmoral Burn 2026 – Get Involved
Our school community is invited to take part in one of Sydney’s most iconic charity events – the Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn, taking place on Sunday 24 May at Balmoral Beach, Mosman.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Balmoral Burn features the famous 420‑metre climb up Awaba Street, all in support of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, which provides life‑saving medical equipment to children’s hospitals across Australia. Please scan the QR code to register.
