Redlands Giving
Letting Light Shine Through Giving
As we come to the end of Term 1, it feels like a natural time to stop and think about what philanthropy means within our Redlands community. At its heart, it is about opening doors. Doors to opportunity, possibility and belonging that allow our young people to discover who they are and let their light shine.
One of our Building Fund major donors recently shared that when families choose a school, they are also choosing a community. With that choice comes a belief in giving back to the communities that support and shape you. For them, generosity is not something that happens by chance. It is considered and purpose driven.
Philanthropy for this family is part of everyday life. Each year they talk together about who they support and why. Giving is not framed as an abstract idea but as something that is lived and practised. Their children see generosity in action and understand that it can take many forms, through time and care and service and leadership, as well as financial support.
This is the kind of generosity that sits at the heart of Redlands. Financial philanthropy helps create the learning environments and facilities and opportunities that allow students from different backgrounds to flourish. It enables equal opportunity. It ensures that both today’s students and those who follow can shine because someone before them chose to open a door.
Many of us are beneficiaries of generosity whether we realise it or not. It always comes down to people believing in the potential of others and choosing to act on that belief.
That is why at Redlands giving is just what we do.
If you would like to learn more or to make a considered philanthropic gift that enables opportunity at Redlands, we invite you to visit the Redlands Giving section of our website. A confidential and personal conversation is always available with me or a member of the Philanthropy team at Redlands. We would be delighted to connect.
