Secondary Sport

What a fitting way to bring the Winter Sport season to a close, with finals matches delivering plenty of drama, excitement, and unforgettable moments for our Redlands teams.

Our Inter A, Inter E, and Junior B Netball teams all competed in their respective ISA Finals. While all three teams fell just short of victory, they can be incredibly proud of their efforts. The heartbreak was particularly evident for our Inter E and Junior B teams, who both pushed their matches into extra time before narrowly going down by a single goal. Their determination and resilience throughout the season were outstanding and reflected the strength of the Redlands Netball program.

It seemed there was something in the air across ISA sport, with all three of our football finals also requiring extra time to separate the teams. The 13A Boys produced a remarkable performance, defeating St Andrew’s 4-2 in extra time to claim their championship. The 15A Boys fought bravely throughout their final against Central Coast Grammar, with the match eventually decided by penalties where they were unfortunately edged out. The 2nd XI Boys delivered one of the most exciting moments of the weekend, overcoming St Paul’s in a thrilling penalty shootout to secure the title and cap off an outstanding campaign.

On the tennis courts, both of our ISA Finals representatives competed strongly but were unable to overcome quality opposition, with our teams going down to St Spyridon and St Andrew’s respectively.

While not every result went our way, the commitment, sportsmanship, and pride displayed by our students throughout the Winter season has been exceptional. We congratulate all athletes, coaches, managers, officials, and families who have contributed to another successful season of sport at Redlands.

As one season ends, another begins. We now turn our attention to Summer Sport, with trial processes commencing today, Thursday 27 August, and continuing through to the end of term. With trials taking place both during the week and on Saturdays, it is important that families, and more importantly students, regularly check their schedules and communications to ensure they are in the right place at the right time. These trials are an important part of preparing for another exciting summer of sport, and we look forward to seeing our students embrace every opportunity.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to a fantastic Winter season. We look forward to an exciting Summer ahead.

ISA Grand Finals

What a fantastic weekend of ISA Grand Finals on Saturday, representing Redlands School !

The 2nd XI Boys, 15A Boys and our youngest team, the 13A Boys, all represented Redlands with great pride. It was a beautiful day. I had my coffee and cake, the sun started to shine, and preparations got underway for what was going to be a fantastic day of football, excitement and great moments that will stay in our minds for a long time.

2nd XI Boys

The Minor Premiers, our 2nd XI Boys, faced St Paul’s 2nd XI in what we knew would be a tough game. Coach Mr Ruddy Franco knew the boys would have to work hard, and they certainly did. The game was full of exciting moments, with both goalkeepers playing an important role throughout both halves to keep the score at 0–0. Extra time was needed, but neither team could find the breakthrough, meaning the match had to be decided by penalty kicks.

It was fantastic to see the Redlands community coming out to support our senior boys, many of whom have been playing football for Redlands since Junior School. The penalty shootout started, and at one stage we were two goals down. However, the boys showed incredible determination and fought their way back. Man of the Match, Rowan Petersen, produced three fantastic saves to help secure the win for Redlands.

What an incredible start to the day!

Congratulations to Coach Ruddy  Franco and all the boys on a fantastic season. The emotions were high, and it was wonderful to see the boys rewarded for all their hard work.

13A and 15A Boys

Next came our 13A Boys against St Andrew’s and our 15A Boys against the Central Coast team both games were very good to watch and there was nothing between the teams. Both games went into extra time, showing just how much determination and effort our boys were putting into their Grand Finals.

The 13A Boys found the breakthrough with only minutes remaining in extra time, scoring a wonderful goal to bring the cup home to Redlands! What a moment for our youngest team and a fantastic achievement. Our 15A Boys also fought incredibly hard, but unfortunately lost their match on penalties. There is certainly was an excellent  performance, and the boys should be extremely proud of their effort.

A Great Day for Redlands Football

Overall, it was a fantastic day for Redlands Football — two wins out of three Grand Finals, with the other decided by penalties. A huge congratulations to all three teams. The commitment, determination and sportsmanship shown by our boys throughout the day was fantastic to see. Thank you to everyone who came along to support Redlands Football. Your encouragement and support mean so much to our players, coaches and the wider Redlands community. It was a great day, full of football, emotion, pride and memories that will stay with us for a long time.

Congratulations to all our boys, coaches and supporters. What a wonderful representation of Redlands!

Netball

A huge well done to our Inter As, Inter Es and Junior Bs for a fantastic effort this season, all narrowly missing out on their respective ISA championship at the nail-biting finals last weekend.

The secondary school netball season’s almost at a close, with only the NSW Schools Cup Sydney Metro finals remaining for the y7&8 As. Although the season has been extended for these players, they’ve embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, and have been training hard this week. Their commitment to giving their best at the upcoming competition has been outstanding, especially with summer sport trials now in full swing. Well done, girls, on your huge effort throughout the season. We wish you all the best for the competition!

Finally, as the netball season ends, we’d love to hear about your experience. Please take a few minutes to complete the feedback survey. Your insights will help us celebrate what went well and continue to improve the netball program in the future.

Tennis

Another exciting week of Redlands Tennis has brought the Winter ISA season to a close, with our players once again showing fantastic commitment, teamwork and competitive spirit.

It has been a terrific season across all our teams, with plenty of improvement, memorable matches and great performances. A special congratulations this week goes to Teams 8 and 10, who competed in their rescheduled ISA finals at Mosman and both finished the season as runners-up.

ISA Finals – Teams 8 & 10

A huge congratulations to Teams 8 and 10 on reaching their respective ISA finals and representing Redlands with great determination.

Both teams fought hard but ultimately finished as runners-up, an excellent achievement and a reflection of the work they have put in throughout the season.

Team 10 came incredibly close to taking the title in a thrilling final. The match finished at 4 sets all, with only five games separating the teams – 39 games to 34. It was an extremely narrow defeat and a fantastic contest right to the end.

The team should be particularly proud of an outstanding season, having remained unbeaten heading into the finals.

Team 8 also deserves a huge congratulations for reaching the final and finishing the season as runners-up. Reaching an ISA final is a fantastic achievement and a great reward for the team’s development and consistency throughout the competition. Well done to everyone involved!

Redlands Internal Competition Final

Our Redlands Internal Competition also came to an exciting conclusion, with Team Blue taking on Team Green in a very close final.

After a fantastic contest, Team Blue came away with the victory and were crowned Internal Competition champions!

Congratulations to both teams on a great final. The Internal Competition has provided our players with valuable match experience throughout the season while encouraging teamwork, competitive play and plenty of positive energy on court.

A huge well done to Team Blue on taking out the title and to Team Green for a fantastic season and such a closely contested final.
