Secondary Sport
As we continue our transition into the summer sport season, I would like to thank all students, coaches, staff and families for their efforts and enthusiasm so far. It has been fantastic to see strong attendance at training sessions and trials across our summer programs, with students embracing the opportunities to develop their skills, connect with teammates and prepare for the season ahead.
Training and trial activities continue this week, including on Saturday 5 September, and we encourage all students to remain committed to the process as teams continue to take shape. The energy and engagement shown across our programs have been extremely pleasing and provide a strong foundation for another successful summer of sport.
A particular highlight over the past week was the excellent turnout at the Athletics Invitational Carnival. Our athletes represented the School with great enthusiasm and determination, and it was wonderful to see so many students competing and supporting one another throughout the day. We look forward to another strong showing this weekend as preparations continue for the ISA Athletics Carnival in Week 9.
As we celebrate the beginning of a new sporting season, we also take the opportunity to recognise the achievements of our winter athletes. A reminder that the Winter Sports Dinner will be held on Friday 18 September at The Hilton. Tickets are still available, and we encourage students and families to join us for what promises to be a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements, dedication and contributions made across all winter sporting programs.

Redlands High-Performance Program
Looking ahead, we are beginning to upskill and develop our players as we prepare for the 2027 season.
In Term 4, we will be introducing a Summer High-Performance Program, specifically designed to help our players continue their development and prepare for the 2027 Football season.
The program will focus on four key areas of the game:
- Technically – developing individual skills and technical ability
- Tactically – improving game understanding, decision-making and tactical awareness
- Physically – developing fitness, strength, speed and physical preparation
- Mentally – building confidence, resilience, focus and a strong performance mindset
I am pleased to confirm that our two First XI Coaches, Mr John Sawa and Mr Grant Lee, will be involved in delivering the program.
We will also have a dedicated Goalkeeper (GK) Program, led by Dominique Garnier, providing specialised training and development for our goalkeepers.

Tennis
With the Winter season now behind us, the focus at Redlands Tennis has quickly turned towards an exciting Summer Tennis season ahead.
After a fantastic Winter campaign, our players are back on court and ready for the next challenge. Summer Tennis trials commenced last Saturday, and it was great to see so many players competing hard, supporting one another and putting their best tennis forward.
Summer Tennis Season Preview
The upcoming Summer Tennis season provides another fantastic opportunity for our players to represent Redlands, develop their games and enjoy regular competitive tennis.
We are looking forward to seeing our players take what they have learned during the Winter season and continue their development throughout Summer.
Summer Tennis Trials Underway
The first round of Summer Tennis trials started last Saturday, giving players the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and compete for positions in the Redlands teams.
Trials are an important part of preparing for the season and allow our coaches to assess players across a range of areas, including match play, consistency, competitiveness, movement and tactical awareness.
It was fantastic to see such a positive attitude across the courts, with players embracing the opportunity and competing hard while showing great sportsmanship.
Trials will continue this Saturday, and we wish all players the very best as team selections begin to take shape.

Building on a Fantastic Winter Season
There is plenty of momentum to take into Summer following another successful Winter season.
Our players demonstrated significant improvement throughout the term, culminating in Teams 8 and 10 reaching their ISA finals and finishing as runners-up, while Team Blue won the Redlands Internal Competition after a closely contested final against Team Green.
The challenge now is to build on that progress.
For returning players, Summer provides an opportunity to take another step forward. For players joining new teams or moving into a higher level, it is an exciting chance to challenge themselves and gain valuable competitive experience.
A New Season, New Opportunities
One of the most exciting parts of a new season is seeing new teams and combinations come together.
Our goal is to continue creating an environment where players can develop their tennis, compete regularly, support their teammates and enjoy representing Redlands.
There will undoubtedly be plenty of close matches and challenges ahead, but we are excited to see what our teams can achieve this Summer.

Sailing
Redlands Sailing Returns for an Exciting Spring and Summer Season
Redlands Sailing is back underway, and we are looking forward to another enjoyable spring and summer season on Sydney Harbour.
It has been wonderful to welcome a number of new sailors to the program while also seeing many familiar faces return. The start of the season has seen sailors quickly settling back into training, focusing on boat handling, racing skills, teamwork, and confidence on the water. Through a combination of on-water coaching and practical learning experiences, sailors will continue to build their skills and develop as competent and capable sailors throughout the term.
The Redlands Sailing Program provides students with a unique opportunity to participate in school sport while learning lifelong skills. Sailing encourages independence, resilience, decision-making, leadership, and teamwork, all while fostering a strong connection with the marine environment. Whether students are new to the sport or have previous experience, the program provides an enjoyable pathway for personal development and continued progression in sailing.
Over the coming months, sailors will be working towards our first major regatta of the season, the Redlands Cup, which will be held on 14 November. The regatta is always a highlight of the sailing calendar and provides students with an opportunity to apply the skills developed during training in a fun and competitive environment.
Our sailing community extends well beyond the water, and we are grateful for the support of our families. Redlands parents are organising a Coffee Meet & Greet on Saturday 5 September at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. We encourage all new and returning families to come along, enjoy a coffee, and connect with other members of the Redlands Sailing community.
We look forward to a fantastic season of learning, development, friendship, and sailing success.
See you on the harbour!
