IB Theatre Solo Performances

Tuesday 8 & Wednesday 9 September | 6:00pm | Drama Studio

Next week, our Year 12 IB Theatre students will take to the stage in the Drama Studio to present their final Solo Performance pieces to a live audience.

Across two evenings, audiences will experience nine original solo monologues, with five performances on Tuesday and four on Wednesday. Each student has crafted their performance using Viewpoints, exploring the theory’s principles of space, time, movement and gesture to create unique and engaging theatrical interpretations.

Audience feedback forms an important part of the students’ final assessment process, so we would love to see members of our school community in the audience. Please come along and support them, or join us for an evening of live theatre and celebrate the wonderful work of our IB Theatre students.

Performances begin at 6:00 pm in the Drama Studio on both evenings. We look forward to seeing you!

Year 9 Students Experience | The Lion King in Sydney

On Wednesday this week, a group of Year 9 students from Redlands’ Drama and Musical Theatre classes had the fantastic opportunity to see the spectacular Sydney production of The Lion King.

For many of our students, seeing a major professional musical live on stage provided an exciting opportunity to experience the creativity, scale and artistry of musical theatre at the highest level. From the stunning costumes, puppetry and set design to the powerful performances, music and choreography, The Lion King offered plenty of inspiration for our aspiring performers and theatre-makers.

It was wonderful to see our students so engaged and enthusiastic throughout the performance, and we hope the experience will inspire them as they continue to develop their own skills and appreciation of Drama and Musical Theatre at Redlands.

Eleanor Triumphs on the International Stage

Congratulations to Eleanor Longcroft, who has been awarded First Place in the Senior Classical Section of the International Youth Monologue Competition. Competing against talented young performers from around the world, Eleanor impressed the judges with her outstanding interpretation, technical skill, and compelling stage presence.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to Eleanor’s dedication, creativity, and commitment to her craft. Success in an international competition of this calibre reflects not only her exceptional talent as a performer but also the countless hours of preparation and refinement invested in her work.

The Redlands community is immensely proud of Eleanor’s accomplishment and celebrates this well-deserved recognition of her excellence in performance. We look forward to following her continued success in the performing arts.
